STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

MONSIGNOR JOHN P. ZENZ     Ordained July 1, 1978, Monsignor Zenz serves as Pastor of Holy Name Parish in Birmingham, and Episcopal Vicar for the Northwest Region of the Archdiocese (Vicariates of Birmingham-Bloomfield-Troy, Farmington-Southfield, Lakes, and Southest Oakland). 

Monsignor Zenz received a doctorate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in March 1984 and has served on the faculty of Sacred Heart Major Seminary continuously since 1979.  He was Archdiocesan Director of Religious Education from 1984-1986; Chancellor from 1986-1990; and Moderator of the Curia and Vicar General from 1990-2008.  He became Pastor of Holy Name Parish on June 1, 2008. 

From 1982 through 2005, Monsignor was a weekend associate at Holy Name Parish in Birmingham.  He also served as associate at St. Rapheal Parish in Garden City (1978-1981) and St. Anselm Parish in Dearborn Heights (weekends 1981-1984).  Monsignor Zenz is on the Board of the Academy of the Sacred Heart and chaplain to the Detroit Chapter of the National Christ Child Society.  He is also currently chaplain to the Detroit Cardinal Club and was formerly a chaplain to the Detroit Chapter of Legatus. 

Monsignor has extensive experience in working with the Catholic Television Network of Detroit, with the writing of the Jublilee 2000 Archdiocesan spiritual renewal program, and has been a frequent presenter in the popular Theology on Tap series since 1999.
 
MICHAEL J. McKALE,DEACON Michael McKale was born in Dayton, Ohio, and attended the University of Dayton where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. His J.D. degree was earned at the Salmon P. Chase School of Law. Currently, Mike is manager of Global Product Regulation of Delphi Automotive Systems. He and his wife, Joyce, are the parents of five children. Michael was ordained to the Permanent Deaconate on October 19, 1985. His ministry as Permanent Deacon includes conducting various liturgical services such as Eucharistic Celebrations, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, and Devotions.

MARY A. PINEAU, PASTORAL ASSOCIATE Originally from Berkley, Michigan, Mary grew up in LaSalette Parish and attended Mercy College of Detroit where she received a B.A. in Home Economics. She taught high school classes in Family Life, Sociology, and Religion in Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Saginaw. She has an M.A. in Family Study from Michigan State University. In 1971 Mary moved to eastern Kentucky and helped to develop St. Vincent’s Mission and an Appalachian Craft cottage industry for low-income people. Also she aided in the formation of several community development groups, taught at a local Community College, did consultant work at senior citizen centers in a five county area of Kentucky, and authored a book on the history of a coal mining community. Mary has been with Holy Name since 1983 and is Coordinator of Christian Services. 

MARY ANN GRADY, PRINCIPAL, HOLY NAME SCHOOL Mary Ann Grady has been in Catholic education since 1972 as a teacher, assistant principal and principal.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education from Wayne State University where she also did graduate course-work in teaching reading.  Her Masters Degree in Education with a major in Administration is from Saginaw Valley State University. 

MARY MORIAN, DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Mary develops and directs educational programs for children and adults. Her studies have been at Marygrove, Mercy College of Detroit, Wayne State University, and Sacred Heart Seminary. Mary taught 6th grade at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Detroit, and 7th and 8th grades in Our Lady of LaSalette in Berkley. She later taught at DeLaSalle Collegiate, now located in Warren. Mary has been with Holy Name’s Religious Education program since 1980, and has been Director of Religious Education since 1985. She also coordinates education programs for adults of the parish.

SISTER SHIRLEE HOSKI, PASTORAL ASSOCIATE Sister Shirlee Hoski is a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Third Order of St. Francis. Her studies have been at St. John’s College, Cleveland Institute of Music, Wayne State University and Westminster Choir College, Princeton. Teaching experiences have included both the private and the public school districts in Ohio and Michigan. Sister Shirlee is Pastoral Associate for Liturgy and Director of Music.
